Abstract:
Objective To understand the characteristics of hand injury and potential risk factors of occurrence of these cases in the western area of Shenzhen City.
Methods The data of all 1 582 patients with acute trauma treated during June 2015 to December 2015 in 5 hospitals in the western area of Shenzhen City were collected. The characteristic of hand injury, including type of injury, the patients' demography and employment history were analyzed and the potential risks of hand injury occurrence were discussed by using logistic regression analysis.
Results The cases of hand injury accounted for 20.54% of total cases. The cutting injury was the most common type, accounted for 28.92%,and the others majorly were crush injury, contusion injury, combined injury and disjoint injury. The logistic regression showed that male(OR=1.284),age <25 years(OR=1.196),employment time <1 year(OR=1.201),junior high school and below education(OR=1.143),the equipment problems(OR=1.159),unacquainted with operation(OR=1.224),physical discomfort(OR=1.201),overtime work (OR=1.255),without gloves(OR=1.282) and limited working space(OR=1.267) were risk factors for hand injuries occurrence(
P<0.05).
Conclusion The hand injury is major type of acute trauma in the west of Shenzhen City, and there are many factors related to hand injury occurrence. The prevention measures should be implemented to reduce the incidence of hand injury.
