Abstract:
Objective The occupational health examination results of workers in a coal mine in Jiangsu Province were evaluated to provide a basis for improving the work on occupational health inspection, the early prevention and treatment of coal miner's pneumoconiosis.
Methods The occupational health examination results of 1 269 workers in the coal mine in 2015, integrated with results of occupational health survey of the enterprises and workers with questionnaire were evaluated.
Results The abnormality of chest X-ray examination among workers working at different worksites was similar(P>0.05), though the workers with long time of exposure to dust had higher abnormality of 1.58%. However, the abnormality of lung function varied among workers at different worksites(P < 0.01), especially the workers with long time of exposure had a high abnormality of 15.33%. The abnormality of chest X-ray examination and lung function among workers who had been smoking for 10 years or more was higher than that among workers who had been smoking for less than 10 years (P < 0.05 or 0.01). There was a trend that abnormality increased with both increased age and employment time(P < 0.05). The workers, who had higher education level and correctly used the personal protective equipment, had the better lung health condition(P < 0.05).
Conclusion The coal mine workers still have severe occupational health threats due to dust exposure. Enterprises should take effective measures to reduce these risks and to ensure workers'health.
