Abstract:
Objective To discuss the effect of n-hexane on the specificity of benzene detection tubes, so as to provide scientific basis for the selection and rapid detection of benzene detection tubes.
Methods Airborne benzene or n-hexane gas with 4 different levels, concentration ranged with 30-200 mg/m3, were made in dynamic distribution meter. National standard method and gas detector method were used to test the samples and the accuracy of benzene gas detection tube was evaluated, and the effect of n-hexane gas on the specificity of benzene detection tube was evaluated.
Results Compared with the results measured by the national standard method, the relative deviations of four kinds of benzene detection tubes ranged from 12.1% to 41.1%. Two kinds of benzene detection tubes showed chromogenic reaction at 30 mg/m3 n-hexane. Three kinds of benzene detection tubes showed chromogenic reaction at 50, 100, and 200 mg/m3 n-hexane respectively, and the detection concentration of the benzene detection tubes increased with the increment of n-hexane concentration.
Conclusion N-hexane could interfere with the detection of benzene detection tubes, which should be paid attention to.
