Abstract:
Objective To evaluate qualitatively and semi-quantitatively the irritating/corrosive effect of epoxy resin curing agent on mammalian skin, and provide protective guideline for human dermal exposure.
Methods The acute dermal irritation/corrosivity test of 5 kinds of epoxy curing agents was carried out according to the guideline entitled with Chemicals-test method of acute dermal irritation/corrosion(GB/T 21604-2008).
Results The mean skin reaction scores of isocyanate epoxy resin curing agent and anhydride epoxy resin curing agent were 1.75 and 0.75 respectively, and ranked as the mild irritation intensity. The mean skin reaction score of polyether amine epoxy resin curing agent was 3.25 and ranked as moderate irritation. Both Phenolic resin and polyamide epoxy resin curing agent had skin corrosive reaction.
Conclusions Five epoxy resin curing agents can stimulate the skin of New Zealand rabbits in different degrees, and even lead to skin corrosion, so dermal protection should be done in the actual use process.
