Methods The experience of diagnosis of occupational diseases in the Third Hospital of Peking University from January to December 2019 was analyzed retrospectively; from January to December 2020, PDCA cycle was introduced in the work on occupational disease diagnosis, and the corresponding intervention measures were taken. The spent time for occupational disease diagnosis, the proportion of application for appraisal of occupational disease, and the consistency of results of occupational disease appraisal and first diagnosis conclusion were compared before and after the implementation of PDCA.
Results After the implementation of PDCA, the spent time for occupational diseases diagnosis was shortened (15.7±6.3) d vs.(19.6±8.2) d, P < 0.05, the proportion of application for appraisal was decreased(1.47% vs. 8.69%, P < 0.05), and the consistency rate was increased from 90% to 100%.
Conclusions After applying PDCA cycle, the quality of work on occupational disease diagnosis were effectively improved through improving the system, sorting out the process and standardizing management.
