Occupational diseases caused by organic solvents in Longgang District of Shenzhen from 2010 to 2012

  • [Objective] The characteristics of ocupational diseases caused by organic solvents in Longgang District of Shenzhen from 2010 to 2012 were discussed to provide the orientation for prevention and control of organic solvent hazards. [Methods] The characterization of occupational disease cases reported in Longgang District of Shenzhen from 2010 to 2012 was analyzed. The information of cases was extracted from the reporting system (data bank). [Results] A total of 37 cases were reported, including 1 acute poisoning case and 36 chronic poisoning cases. Among them there were 22 chronic benzene poisoning cases(59.5%), 10 leukemia cases (27.0%), 4 chronic trichloroethylene poisoning cases (10.8%) and 1 chronic n-hexane poisoning cases (2.7%). [Conclusion] The most cases were from the minor enterprises and benzene was the first reason in the toy manufacturing industry.
