Survey on self-rated social adaptability of employees in Panyu District,Guangzhou

Abstract
Objective To Understand the correlation between social health status of employees in Panyu District,Guangzhou and their demographic,sociological characteristics and other factors,and to provide the orientation for the promotion of social health of employees. Methods The sub-scale of social health from the self-rated health measurement scale (SRHMS) was used to survey social adaptability of 831 employees aged 16 to 59-year-old in Panyu District. Results These employees had a high score in the items such as role activities and social adaptation,social resources and social contacts,social support and self-rated general health,accounting for 85.0%,78.6%,69.3% and 78.3% of maximum theoretical values,respectively. The variation of some items among different sub-group employees,such as gender,marital status,educational level,economic status,types of enterprise employees,was statistically significant(P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Conclusion Generally,the employees in Panyu District had a good score in survey on self-rated social adaptability. The gender,marital status,education level,economic status and enterprise type may affect the social health of employees.
